Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
Safi offers a Quick Start Package to make it easy to get started. You can start with a few machines, then add more once you see the results. We send a box of sensors and provide remote support to your electrician to install on your machines in just a few hours. The sensors work for on any age and type of machines with zero integration required. Sign up HERE for a demo and to order your Self Start Kit.
What does my monthly subscription include?
Your monthly subscription includes sensors for the machines you'd like to measure, the Safi hub hardware which is internet, wifi, and LTE enabled, and unlimited access to your plant's exclusive cloud-based Safi platform. It also includes virtual training and support from Safi’s responsive customer success team.
How does Safi collect real time data?
The Safi platform includes real-time data from machines in the factory, collected via non-invasive sensors called Current Transformers (CTs).
The CTs clip around the power cord of the machine like a bracelet, without the need for any integration. They track the activity of the machine by tracking the current it is drawing, so they work the same for any machine that uses electricity, regardless of the make, model, or age.
The CTs plug into a Hub, which is a box that contains a meter to collect the data and a router that sends it into the cloud. Each Hub can connect to up to 15 machines within a 30 meter radius.
Here are the specs for the components of each Safi Hub:
How do I know the data provided is accurate?
Once the current of the machine from the CTs is transmitted into the Safi platform in the cloud, your team has a single source of truth showing how the machine is operating at all times: Idle, running on high speed, running on low speed, off, etc. For some types of machines, Safi can derive the amount the machine is producing from the pattern of current draw.
How do you guarantee the security of my data?
Once the data is in the cloud, Safi uses multiple layers of enterprise-software security best practices to keep your data completely secure. Here is our security overview.
How will my team access Safi?
Once your sensors are installed, you will access your factory’s Safi platform via a customized link, e.g. “yourfactory.safi.ai,” with password-protected user access and configurable access levels.
How do I track OEE in Safi?
Safi will automatically calculate OEE for any machine and shift:
- Availability: Safi automatically calculates run-time for any machine via configurable idle time, run-time, and offline thresholds we set up based on your machines' unique patterns of activity.
- Performance - when your team enters or uploads production data, the Safi system calculates Performance by comparing total production to potential production based on your pre-set machine targets and run-time.
- Quality - when your team enters or uploads data on good production or on waste, the Safi system calculates Quality by comparing the quality metric against your pre-set targets.
What steps are needed to launch Safi?
Safi will automatically calculate OEE for any machine and shift:
- Step One: You fill out a form with the machines you want to monitor, and your electrician’s contact info. Once received, Safi works directly with your electrician to determine the exact hardware needed and send you a link for final approval.
- Step Two: Safi prepares and mails your Self Start Kit, which includes simple clip-on sensors, to your electrician. Your electrician clips the sensors around the power cords of the machines you want to monitor, and connects the Hub to your WiFi. This can happen at the machine location or at a central distribution board, depending on your factory’s layout.
- Step Three: Safi finalizes configuration remotely and sends you a link to your personalized, live system along with onboarding and training details. You’re ready to go!
